Lewis & Clark Outfitters has developed a bicycle training program to prepare riders for cycling events including Square to Square and the Lewis and Clark Scavenger rides, or just to ride and get / stay in shape. We can help most new riders achieve a 30 mile ride within 4-6 weeks of training. The program includes access to a private Facebook community group, basic riding instructions, nutrition information, equipment needs, basic maintenance tips and classes, injury prevention clinics, and weekly training rides.
ABOUT THE GROUP TRAINING RIDES
Each week, there will be an instructor-led group ride and a proposed training schedule. The weekly training ride will alternate, being led out of our Rogers location one week and Springdale the next, allowing the riders to experience different areas and types of terrain. In addition, participants will receive tips and mini challenges!
All training rides will be on the paved trails, so it will be safe and free of cars (except for road crossings). Each week there will be the option to go 6, 12, or 18 miles with a ride leader. As the program grows we will add more distances.
As for the type of bike to ride, we strongly recommend either a hybrid or a road bicycle for the training rides. If you will be riding a mountain bike, we recommend installing smooth tread tires, which will be much more efficient and enjoyable on pavement.
The ride start times will be between 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM, and will be announced on the Facebook training page each week.
